A member of the Second Generation Professor Nicholas Stargardt, who gave such an interesting presentation at the 1938 Forum at the Jewish Museum, will explore his research into the impact of Nazism on children during the Holocaust. Using sources from the time, ranging from welfare and medical files, to diaries, letters and children’s drawings, he will shed light on their lives by focusing on their play and other activities. Nick is a professor of modern European history at Oxford University and will also talk about how his own background has affected his research. His publications include The German War: A Nation Under Arms 1939 – 1945, Witnesses of War: Children’s Lives Under the Nazisand The German Idea of Militarism: Radical and Socialist Critics, 1866-1914. Members of all generations are welcome to this free event organised by the Second Generation Network and the Wiener Holocaust Library. Free tickets are obtainable via the Wiener Holocaust Library website https://www.wienerlibrary.co.uk/Whats-On?item=521.
