Monday 7th December to Wednesday 27th January 2021: six-week Writing Workshop run by Nick Barlay, author of Scattered Ghosts

We are very exited to announce a six-week Writing Workshop run by Nick Barlay, author of Scattered Ghosts and who recently hosted a well-attended Second Generation Network Zoom meeting. The course will take place over 6 weeks from Monday 7th December to Wednesday 27th January 2021. Places will be limited to 10 with preference given to paid up Network Members. The cost of the workshop is £60; this must be paid in advance and is non-refundable unless the workshop is cancelled.

This online workshop created specifically for Members of the Second Generation Network will be a practical exploration of writing a family history, and the issues raised for writers of the Second and Third Generations. The course will combine examples, discussion and brief writing exercises to enable participants to discover a form most appropriate to their unique and individual stories. The emotionally and psychologically challenging territory will raise difficult questions about what is known, how it is passed on, and how to represent the living and the dead. Participants will have opportunities throughout to share ideas, raise questions and to receive constructive feedback for their projects.

The course will take place via Zoom from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on the following dates:

Monday 7th December
Monday 14th December
Wednesday 6th January
Wednesday 13th January
Wednesday 20th January
Wednesday 27th January

The workshop is limited to ten people but if there is a lot of interest, we will consider creating a further workshop.
